On 24 and 25 April 2018 the International Consensus Conference on Patient Blood Management (ICC-PBM2018) will take place in Frankfurt, Germany. We cordially invite you to register for this conference and contribute to advancing patient blood management.
In this Consensus Conference, international experts will present the best available evidence on Patient Blood Management (PBM) to a multi-disciplinary panel and an audience of over 250 participants. This will result in evidence-based recommendations on the following 3 key topics:
- Red Blood Cell Transfusion Triggers
- Pre-Operative Anemia
- Implementation of PBM
The programme of ICC-PBM2018 includes over 50 international experts participating in the conference as speakers, chairs, panellists and rapporteurs.
A systematic evidence-based review on the specific PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) questions around these three topics and was carried out and the foundations of the conference are based on this evidence. Based on search strategies, the Centre for Evidence-Based Practice (CEBaP) of the Belgian Red Cross screened approximately 15.000 titles and abstracts and included more than 160 studies within the 3 PBM topics of interest. The evidence-based conclusions and the quality of the evidence will be presented at the Consensus Conference meeting by the Scientific Committee. Based on the evidence and together with the input from the audience, multidisciplinary expert panels will develop recommendations by using a transparent evidence-to-decision framework (GRADE approach).
Besides the rigorous scientific process, this conference is unique due to its international collaboration: the consortium of organisers spans European, American, Canadian and Australian organisations* in the field of blood transfusion, all willing to contribute to furthering patient blood management.
To join this unique meeting, please visit the conference website at www.icc-pbm.eu. More information on the Consensus Conference method, the participants and the practicalities can be found there and in the programme. All the delegates will get access to the evidence summaries prior and during the event and they will be able to input on the recommendations during the conference.
