If you're not an Australian Public Service (APS) employee, you can apply to join our temporary employment register.

Our register helps us fill temporary, short-term vacancies.

We might offer full-time, part-time or casual roles of up to 18 months, depending on our needs.

Job opportunities range from APS Levels 1–6 to Executive Level 1. Select your classification preference when you apply.

Who can apply

The temporary employment register is open to people who are interested in non-ongoing (temporary) employment opportunities.

If you're an ongoing APS employee, you can register your interest in working for the NBA through our mobility register.

What we're looking for

We're looking for self-motivated people who take responsibility and deliver results. Candidates on our temporary employment register usually have:

  • high-level communication skills
  • research, analysis and problem-solving skills
  • organisational and time management skills
  • the ability to work well in a team.

Security clearance

All roles at the NBA, including temporary roles, need a Baseline security clearance at minimum. Some roles may require a higher-level security clearance.

To apply for a role, you must be an Australian citizen who can hold and maintain the required security clearance from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA)(Opens in a new tab/window).
