The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood (Lifeblood) recently made submissions to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia seeking to remove the deferral period for donors who engage in high‑risk sexual activity and those currently taking pre-exposure prophylaxis HIV prevention (PrEP) treatment, for donations of plasma for fractionation only.
These submissions were approved by the TGA on 25 May 2023.
