This notice explains how we (the National Blood Authority) manage personal information to meet our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988(Opens in a new tab/window) and the Australian Privacy Principles(Opens in a new tab/window) (APPs).
Who is collecting your personal information?
Your personal information is being collected by the National Blood Authority (NBA).
Why is the NBA collecting your personal information?
Your personal information is being collected for the primary purpose of managing the NBA’s functions and activities, either:
- as communicated to you by host of the Microsoft Teams (MS Teams) meeting or otherwise; or
- as set out in the meeting invitation.
The NBA’s functions and activities may involve programs, policies and corporate activities.
Collection of this personal information will be via the NBA recording video and audio of the meeting and obtaining automatically generated transcripts of the meeting.
Recordings and transcripts will be used to:
- allow staff to refer to meetings to confirm points that were discussed, or outcomes agreed upon.
- enable staff who missed a meeting to catch-up on what was discussed.
- keep a record of the meeting for evidentiary purposes.
- reduce the need for staff to make detailed meeting minutes during the meeting.
Personal information may also be used for other purposes. In the event the personal information will be used for another purpose, the host should discuss this at the beginning of the meeting. Alternatively, the use of personal information for another purpose may be set out in the invite to the meeting.
What would happen if the NBA did not collect your personal information?
If you do not consent to the NBA recording the meeting, you will not be able to participate in the meeting.
Who will the NBA disclose your personal information to?
The host may discuss any disclosures to third party recipients at the start of the meeting or this may be otherwise be communicated to you at a different time.

The NBA’s privacy policy contains information about how you may access and seek correction of personal information about you that is held by the NBA.
Privacy complaints
The NBA’s privacy policy contains information about how you may complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles(Opens in a new tab/window) or the Australian Government Agencies Privacy Code (Opens in a new tab/window)and how the NBA will deal with complaints.
Overseas disclosure of your personal information
We are unlikely to disclose your personal information to any overseas recipients.

Consent
By participating in a recorded or transcribed MS Teams meeting, you consent to the NBA, where applicable, collecting, using and disclosing:
- your name and likeness, email address, phone number, photographs, written chat messages, answers to polls or surveys, digital images and video and audio recordings of you and your voice and quotes from you.
- information about you, including revealing your participation in the meeting and your opinion on the subjects discussed during the meeting.
